Getting Started at Terra

At Terra, we know every young parent’s experience is unique, so we strive to meet your individual needs.

Our Starting Point worker Charlotte, will connect you with valuable resources, help you through the first steps and make sure you receive the best information and support throughout your journey. Is housing a major concern for you? Charlotte can tell you about Terra’s housing partnerships. Are you looking to complete your high school education? She can tell you about Braemar School. Are you interested in attending pre-natal classes? She can help you register.

Charlotte will also connect you with one of our Family Outreach workers. Your outreach worker will meet you regularly at your home, at school or in the community, and will help you reach your goals. Sometimes there’s a waiting period until you can connect with an outreach worker, so Charlotte is available to answer calls and meet with you. You’ll always have someone to talk to and rely on.

Starting Point is located at Terra’s downtown office. Young moms, young dads, family members and staff from community organizations can make an appointment with Lisa to learn about our programs and services.

Some things our Starting Point worker can do for you:
  • Listen to your concerns and answer questions
  • Help you register for Terra’s programs and services
  • Connect you with community resources (health care centres, clinics, food bank, etc.)
  • Accompany you to meetings and appointments
  • Help you access free children’s clothing, diapers and baby essentials in our Clothes Closet
  • Help you access our Resource Room, where you can use the phone, computer, Internet and printer

If you are a young parent or are about to become one, we encourage you to contact Charlotte by email or by phone at 780-428-3772.
