Terra relies on volunteers, financial and in-kind donations to offer services and support our teen parents.
At Terra, our specialized team tailors programs and services to meet the needs of each teen parent. Always safe, never judgemental. Learn more about what we have to offer our young families.
If you are a young parent or are about to become one and are interested in what Terra has to offer you, you are in the right place. Our Starting Point Support Worker acts as a first point of contact for all young moms and dads looking for support and information.
Veronika has a background in sociology and criminology and is passionate about building a more peaceful and equal society. She is also a volunteer with Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton (BGCBigs) and Men Edmonton, and has experience as a childcare provider. Her interest in working for Terra comes from a desire to be a positive force in the lives of young parents. Veronika is a lifelong Edmonton resident, and loves this city. She is also a big fan of dogs, reading and really bad puns.
Veronika understands the concerns of young parents and her caring personality makes her outstanding at identifying supports and resources to help build promising futures for program participants and their children.
One of her most important jobs is to connect you with a Family Outreach Worker who can assist you on a regular basis. However, don’t worry about the wait! In the meantime, Veronika is available to answer calls and meet with parents on a drop-in, as needed basis. We make it a priority to ensure participants always have someone they can speak to and rely on.
When you meet with Veronika, she will help you explore which supports and resources will be most helpful to you at this point in your journey. Is housing a major concern for you? Veronika can tell you about Terra’s housing partnerships. Are you looking to complete your high school education? She can help you connect with Educational Support Services at Braemar School. Maybe you are interested in pre-natal classes. She can help you register for those as well! At Terra, we know every parent’s experience is unique. That’s why we accommodate each individual based on their needs.
Starting Point is located at the downtown Terra office. Potential participants, current participants, community workers, family members and students can call, email or drop in to access information on the programs and services Terra offers. Our Starting Point worker is available Monday-Friday during regular office hours.
If you are a young parent or are about to become one, we encourage you to connect with Veronika. She can connect you with valuable resources, help you through the first steps, and make sure you receive the best care and assistance as you make parenting decisions and begin your journey.
Terra's Starting Point Worker not only did my intake, but went out of her way after I was connected to congratulate me on my successes.
It took me two months to reach out to Terra. I was so scared. I'm so very happy I made the call, Terra & Braemar changed my life for the better!
We’re located at 9930 106 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta. We are open 8:30-4:30 Mon-Fri.
