Help Serve 178 School Lunches inviting volunteer groups to join us in supporting food security for teen parent families.
Every school day at Braemar School, young parents are working toward two important goals: graduating from high school and raising their children.
For many students, balancing classes, parenting responsibilities, employment, transportation, and financial pressures can feel overwhelming. Something as simple as a warm lunch can make a meaningful difference.
A nutritious meal does more than fill a plate. It sends a message:
You matter. We believe in you. Your community is cheering you on.
For more than 55 years, Terra Centre has supported young parents in Edmonton, helping them build brighter futures for themselves and their children. Through our partnership with Braemar School, we walk alongside students as they complete their education while raising a family.
This year, we are inviting workplaces, service clubs, faith groups, community organizations, and groups of friends to help us fill 178 school lunch opportunities throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
When your group sponsors a lunch, you will:
Terra staff are on-site to guide and support your group throughout the experience.
Group Size: 3–6 people
Time Commitment: Approximately 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Typical Cost: $150–$250
Location: Braemar School, Edmonton
Tax Receipts: Available for eligible grocery expenses
Food Requirements: Nut-free meals are required. We can provide guidance on Halal-friendly options and food safety considerations.
No problem.
Many groups choose to order food from a local restaurant and focus on serving lunch and connecting with the experience. Others have groceries delivered and prepare meals on-site.
Years after graduating, Terra alumni often tell us they still remember the support they received during their time at Braemar.
The encouragement they received helped them finish school, pursue careers, create stability for their families, and build strong futures for their children. A school lunch may seem small, but it becomes part of a larger story of belonging, support, and hope.
Whether you can commit to one lunch or several throughout the year, your support helps ensure young parents have the nourishment and encouragement they need to succeed.
