Terra relies on volunteers, financial and in-kind donations to offer services and support our teen parents.
At Terra, our specialized team tailors programs and services to meet the needs of each teen parent. Always safe, never judgemental. Learn more about what we have to offer our young families.
In early 2025, Courtney and Jonathan Rozendaal of Rozen Steelworks connected with Terra Centre in a way that was both personal and inspiring. For Courtney, the connection began with an invitation from community volunteer and current Terra Board Chair, Katherine Salucop to a meal-making night at Terra’s west-end building. After touring the space, she was struck by the warmth, care, and thoughtfulness that went into every detail.
“I thought it was so beautiful, homey, and so well executed that I couldn’t stop talking about it to Jonathan when I got home that night,” she recalls. So when it came time to choose a beneficiary for Rozen Steelworks’ annual golf tournament, the choice was clear.
Together, Courtney and Jonathan toured both Braemar School and the West-end building, learning more about Terra’s programs and the wrap-around supports that help young parents succeed.
“We were amazed to see the level of care that is provided for these young mothers, their children, and the fathers too,” says Courtney. “We loved hearing the stories of parents finding refuge in the safety of the school environment, believing in and achieving a better life for their child, and even successfully going to college with the help of Terra. Each person we communicate with at Terra Centre has a very high commitment to these families and it shows!”
Jonathan adds, “The Braemar visit showed us how essential this school is for the futures of these young mothers. Many rely on Terra Centre for meals and support, and witnessing the programs firsthand reinforced our belief in the power of community. Rozen Steelworks is proud to back Terra Centre’s work and give these young mothers (students at Braemar) and their children a real chance at a positive future.”
That belief in community came to life in June, when Rozen Steelworks hosted their annual client golf tournament in support of Terra. Terra team members were welcomed to the tournament and had the opportunity to share stories of impact at the banquet. By the end of the day, $10,000 had been raised to help Terra respond to the changing needs of teen parent families.
Fundraisers like this are a true gift to hundreds of young families across Edmonton. They provide immediate support, while also creating ripples of lasting impact that stretch into the futures of young parents and their children.
We are grateful for the friendship of Courtney, Jonathan, and the entire Rozen Steelworks family. Their leadership and generosity are building stronger futures for teen parent families, and inspiring others to do the same.
