On June 6th, Terra had the pleasure of hosting our annual fundraiser, Promising Futures, at the beautiful Royal Glenora Club. The new happy hour format encouraged mingling with guests and sparking conversations with Terra’s program staff. They shared the unique programs and supports that Terra staff facilitate to empower participants to succeed and thrive. The emphasis of facilitation revolves around relationships built with program staff, fellow participants and the community.

We are deeply grateful to all our old friends who were able to attend and all our new friends who chose to spend the evening getting to know us and some of the families we impact.

Madden, singer/songwriter/guitarist shared two soulful songs that gave everyone in the room goosebumps. They also shared some personal reflection of the Terra programs and supports over the years, that have made them feel safe and welcome as a teen parent.

Sam and Ethan drew the room in by talking about their journey as new parents, the challenges of friend groups shifting and the community they have built as a family at Terra.

Our friend, Kent Morrison returned as our energetic and charismatic emcee that kept the crowd energized and motivated.

We hope guests left feeling uplifted, inspired and with a lasting impression on the potential of teen parent families as they contribute to community. Thank you to our sponsors for making this event the inspiring evening it was. We are grateful for your support of teen parent families and the work we do.

We know that Terra participants and alumni involved in Promising Futures left feeling a deeper sense of community, pride and confidence. We also know that many of our Promising Futures guests left the event with a deeper understanding of just how much effort these young parents put into the success of their families and how many challenges they overcome each day. We are grateful to have had this chance to bring these worlds together and look forward to future events that grow understanding and support for teen parents and their children.

We are thrilled to report that we raised over $72,000 through sponsorship and donations from our community of support. These funds will support the ongoing work of Terra’s programs and services that have been specifically designed and adapted over the last 53 years of Terra’s existence to address challenges to reduce the barriers teen parents face. Donor support allows Terra to be creative, adaptable and pursue innovative projects to address the current needs of teen parents and plan for future needs.
