Terra relies on volunteers, financial and in-kind donations to offer services and support our teen parents.
At Terra, our specialized team tailors programs and services to meet the needs of each teen parent. Always safe, never judgemental. Learn more about what we have to offer our young families.
One of the most significant factors a young parent has to consider when making the decision to complete their high school education while parenting their child is finances. Many worry that they will not be able to attend classes while also earning an income to support themselves and their child(ren). Terra understands the tight budgets that young parents often have to work within, which is why we have an on-site specialist at Braemar School who assists young parents in applying for funding through the Strengthening Hope Learner’s Bursary.
The Learner’s Bursary is a three year provincially funded demonstration project available to young parents registered at Braemar School in Edmonton or Louise Dean School in Calgary. The goal of the project is to respond to the specific needs that young parents have when it comes to high school completion, and assist them in creating more promising futures for them and their families. The student bursary is administered to young parents while they are in full-time studies September to June and also when attending Summer School at either of the two locations.
The Strengthening Hope Learner’s Bursary covers the expenses of day-to-day living and child care.
