Terra Centre for Teen Parents was proud to celebrate three outstanding supporters at this year’s National Philanthropy Day, hosted by the Edmonton chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. This annual event recognizes individuals, organizations, and volunteers whose contributions of time, talent, and resources make a significant impact in their communities.

This year, Terra honoured RBC, The Salvation Army, and Saylish Haas with The Next Act family of restaurants for their generous contributions and unwavering support.

RBC

Terra Centre extends heartfelt thanks to RBC for its dedication to community building through donations and volunteerism. Since 2020, the RBC Foundation has supported Terra’s Youth Leadership program through its Future Launch initiative. This program helps young parents develop essential leadership and public speaking skills, boosting confidence and expanding social networks.

In addition, the RBC Mayfield Branch has been an active volunteer partner since 2023, contributing to Terra’s Braemar School lunch program and Clothes Closet initiative. RBC Mayfield staff have also represented the bank at Terra fundraising events, demonstrating their commitment to empowering teen parents to thrive.

The Salvation Army

Since 2017, The Salvation Army Edmonton Temple has exemplified its mission of sharing love and meeting community needs by supporting Terra families. The Temple prepares and serves hot lunches weekly at Terra’s partner high school, Braemar School, ensuring students enjoy nutritious meals.

Their generosity extends to holidays, providing festive gifts, hampers, and gift cards for families, as well as meals and gifts to celebrate graduates. Terra also benefits from the support of The Salvation Army’s Edmonton Community Resource Centre, which supplies ingredients for meals served at Terra’s Child & Family Support Centre.

Saylish Haas and The Next Act Family of Restaurants

Terra is grateful to Saylish Haas and her team, co-owners of The Next Act, MEAT, Pip, Pals, and Marlo restaurants, for their creative approach to giving. Over the past year, they’ve supported Terra by donating bottle returns through Skip the Depot, contributing valuable funds to support Terra programs.

Giving back is a cornerstone of their business values. Whether through monetary donations, volunteering, or collaborating with local charities, Saylish and her partners demonstrate the profound impact small businesses can have in building stronger communities.

Terra Centre thanks these incredible donors and volunteers for their generosity, dedication, and commitment to supporting teen parents and their families. Your efforts are helping to transform lives and create brighter futures for our community.
