Expanding Hope: Providing Support to Young Families Across Alberta

Expanding Hope is a province-wide initiative designed to provide support to young families through two key service branches. The first branch offers virtual navigation services directly to young families while the second focuses on strengthening the capacity of Family Resource Networks and community organizations across Alberta who serve pregnant and parenting youth.

Strengthening Families:

Expanding Hope provides virtual short-term navigation services to pregnant and parenting youth and their caregivers who primarily reside outside Edmonton

  • Individual Support: Provides trauma-informed, person-centred navigation services directly to young families and their caregivers.

  • Empowering Youth: Provides referrals and connection to resources while fostering child and youth development and strengthening natural support networks.

  • Holistic Approach: Combines expertise in child-parent attachment, trauma-informed care, and youth advocacy to ensure young families have access to the tools they need to thrive.
Individual Support Services

Collaborative Innovation:

Expanding Hope works with Family Resource Networks (FRNs) and other service providers to build their capacity to serve pregnant and parenting youth.

  • Capacity Building: The Expanding Hope Team offers virtual training, coaching, and resource development for FRNs and other community organizations, equipping them to address the unique needs of expecting and parenting youth.

  • Referral Pathways: Professionals can refer young families to the Expanding Hope’s Short-Term Navigation service.

  • Community Insight: Identifies service gaps and collaborates with partners to enhance and expand support systems.
