Terra relies on volunteers, financial and in-kind donations to offer services and support our teen parents.
At Terra, our specialized team tailors programs and services to meet the needs of each teen parent. Always safe, never judgemental. Learn more about what we have to offer our young families.
One-on-One Support for Young Parents and Caregivers
The Expanding Hope team helps young parents and their caregivers across Alberta by offering short-term support. Families or their supporters can reach out by phone, email, text, or video call to connect with an Expanding Hope Navigator. These Navigators will listen to your needs and help you find resources and services that are right for you.
Who Can Get Support?
If you are pregnant or parenting and aged 21 or under, you can reach out to us for support. Our services are virtual, confidential, and do not require parental consent to participate. If you would like to refer yourself to Expanding Hope, click the referral form at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions or concerns about starting with Expanding Hope, please do not hesitate to e-mail us at expandinghope@terracentre.ca, we would love to help!
Parents, grandparents, relatives, teachers, friends, or anyone else helping a young parent can also access our services. We understand that caregivers of pregnant and parenting youth may have their own needs and concerns. Expanding hope can offer guidance, connect you with resources, and support you with navigating your own journey during this new chapter.
Expanding Hope is here to help Albertans, especially those who live outside Edmonton and Calgary, where it can be harder to find resources. Our program is completely virtual, allowing us to connect with all corners of the province.
What Does Support Look Like?
When you reach out to Expanding Hope, you’ll work one-on-one with a team member who will:
You’ll connect with Expanding Hope about 3–5 times, but you’re welcome to reach out again if you need more help.
How We Help:
1. Getting to know you: We will connect with you through phone, email, text, or video call—whatever works best for you. We’ll ask a few questions to understand what kind of help you’re looking for.
2. Finding resources: We’ll look for services and programs that match your needs, considering things like your age, transportation, income, and any cultural or spiritual preferences.
3. Share the information: We’ll send you the resources we found, including helpful links, phone numbers, and forms. If you need help accessing these resources, let us know, and we’ll guide you through it!
4. Follow up: After about a week, we’ll check in to see if the resources were helpful. If you have any new needs, we’ll help with those too.
