Job Overview and Conditions:

The Mental Health & Addiction Therapist Supports for Pregnant and Parenting Teens is a community-based program for teen parents being served by Terra Centre. Through this program participants will have access to enhanced mental health supports that strengthen their ability to cope with a variety of mental health disorders, emotional and relational disturbances, parenting concerns, and adjustment problems. In addition, this currently advertised position will provide traditional therapeutic services that support and protect the mental health of teen parents and their children, while concurrently working to support the reduction of risk toward substance abuse and behavioral addictions.

The Mental Health & Addiction Therapist position is a 9-month position working a 35-hour work week, with the possibility of an extension to 12 months.  Flexible hours are required to meet the needs of teen families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employ assessment and intervention protocols that best address adolescent, emotional, behavioral, and mental health, and addiction concerns.
  • Facilitate the navigation of potentially complex systems to sustain community services that address the mental well-being of the teen parent and their child(ren).
  • Promote acceptance and understanding of mental health and promote wellness internally and externally.
  • Utilize professional skills used to provide services and supports to participants to reflect best practices by engaging in a process of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ensure that services align with program outcomes by capturing results and celebrating achievements for each family.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology/Social Work/ Counselling/Therapy
  • Additional course work and experience in addiction counselling
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist/MSW/Therapist
  • Registered with an applicable licensing body.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Clear Police Security Check (dated within 90 Days)
  • Clear Child Intervention Check (dated within 90 days)

Hourly Rate: $35.00-$40.00 (Dependent on experience)
