Job Overview:

The Fund Development Officer is responsible for implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to generate financial support to advance the mission of the agency. Working in collaboration with Executive Director, Director Fund Development and external counsel, this role is responsible for all stages of the fundraising cycle including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This is a multi-faceted role that will include building relationships with prospective donors, agency partners  and the community at large.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development and leads the execution of fundraising strategy to support Terra in achieving specific fundraising goals.
  • Implements a giving program that offers a range of opportunities including annual gifts, major gifts, legacy gifts, and grants
  • Manages a portfolio of donors through the stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Identifies prospective donors; develops and documents strategies for building relationships with them.
  • Provides guidance and support to volunteer leadership and board of directors
  • Creates effective fundraising materials, cases for support, presentation and solicitation materials.
  • Manages all documentation and data that is relevant to the strategy.


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising, business development or marketing is considered an asset
  • College or University diploma/degree. Preference will be given to candidates with education in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office, expertise with advanced functions in Excel and Raiser Edge
  • Experience with prospect research, major gift solicitation and preparing grant applications.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Demonstrated commitment to building and maintaining long-term relationships with donors
  • A commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment with staff, volunteers, families, donors and the general public
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism, tact and interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Must be committed to quality work at all times and have a self-directed work ethic and demonstrate initiative when given additional assignments.

  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date
