Position Summary:

The Director will ensure the continued delivery of high-quality services to young parents and their children while seeking innovative, collaborative, and responsive strategies to meet their current and emerging needs.

This position is a member of the agency’s Strategic Leadership Team comprised of agency Directors who work collaboratively with the Executive Director to:

  • model and safeguard the agency, mission, values and culture of the organization
  • implement the agency strategic plan • work collaboratively with other Directors to support their priorities
  • cultivate and participate in stakeholder relationships that bring value to the agency mission
  • bring creative strategic thinking to increase effectiveness and efficiency in agency service delivery and operations

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the outcomes of community based services which includes Home Visitation, Cultural Supports, Housing Services, Educational Supports at Braemar School, and Group Programming.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours/week 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position and agency. This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.

Summary Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction to identifying new and improved service models; discovery, development, delivery, and evaluation
  • Prepare program funding and finance reports and support development of annual agency financial planning
  • Provide oversight to systems and processes required to collect relevant demographic and statistical data to ensure community needs and funder reporting requirements are maintained
  • Maintain current knowledge of foundational child and family based practise research
    as well regulatory obligations, accreditation standards
  • Identify strategies to move programs and services forward; set goals, create and implement actions plans, monitor and evaluate the progress and results. •
  • Identify emergent needs, opportunities and evolving practices Supervision of Program Managers that have responsibilities for service delivery at Braemar School and community based/home visitation services.
  • Coach and mentor staff to enhance supervisory, program management, and leadership skills to build effective teams
  • Ensure the integration of Terra values, mission alignment and inclusion practices into all HR matters
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with funders, community agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate program and services and opportunities to enhance and advance programs
  • Represent and activate collaborative endeavors that align to the agency values and achieving the goals of the strategic plan
Qualifications/Requirements
  • A Degree or Diploma in the field of human/health services, or community development
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in program and staff management in progressively senior leadership roles
  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check dated within 90 days of start date
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory for all Terra staff volunteers and contractors. Successful candidates will be required to agreed to comply with Terra mandatory vaccine policy and provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of their employment before commencement.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Demonstrated excellence in building authentic supportive relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office, with particular expertise with advanced functions in Excel and databases
  • Experience with program budgeting and budget monitoring
  • Ability to prepare complex grant applications, evaluations and funder reports
  • Extensive knowledge of service delivery standards and practices
  • Knowledge of Human Resources best practices and legislation
  • Posses an innovative spirit
