Job Overview:

The Childminder will support children in exploring play and providing meaningful interactions that increase children’s growth and development, while their parents access group programming onsite at Terra West.

 

Job Conditions:

The position will be working out of the Terra main office located at 10320-146 Street between the hours of 5 to 8 pm every Tuesday evening.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Welcome and interact with participant’s and their children at Terra Centre
  • Joining and engaging families during dinner time
  • Providing quality care and age-appropriate activities for children aged 0 to 6 years
  • Modelling appropriate adult-child interactions.
  • Increase learning opportunities for children
  • Interact with participants and provide them an overview of what their children engaged in during their time in childminding
  • Light cleaning and maintenance of the childcare space is also required


Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Child Development Assistant Certificate (Level I) is preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with children 0-6 years.
  • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds
  • A current (within last 6 month) Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check are required
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Must be at least 18 years old

 

Other requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with 2 million liability insurance
  • Current clear Drivers Abstract
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date

Salary: The salary is $17/hour.
