The class is open to women age 23 and under who are in their second or third trimester. Participants are welcome to bring one support person with them.

During these free, two-night prenatal classes, young mothers and fathers will enjoy a meal together, then learn how to care for themselves or their partners and their baby before, during and after the birth of their baby. A public health nurse will answer questions and provide information on:

  • Delivering your baby
    • Normal changes in the third trimester
    • Stages of labour and birth
    • When to go to the hospital
    • Role of the support person
  • Meeting your baby
    • Decision-making in labour and delivery
    • When things don’t go as planned
    • What to expect after delivery
    • Getting to know your newborn
  • You and your new baby
    • Feeding your baby
    • Learning to breastfeed
    • Understanding and responding to your baby
    • How to care for yourself

A light supper is provided. Childcare is not provided. Please RSVP by calling the office at 780-428-3772 or by talking to your Family Outreach Worker.

Note: The class takes place from 5 – 8 p.m. on both October 9 & 10, 2019.
