Cultural Teaching, Crafting and Activities is all about connecting to culture through teachings, ceremony and activities. It’s offered every Wednesday at Braemar School. These events are open to all participants and staff. All cultures are welcome! Activities include:
Time: 8:45 – 10 a.m. and 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. Location: Child and Family Support Centre
Kohkom Kathy spends time in the childcare rooms at our Child and Family Support Centre providing a new cultural teaching each week for staff and interacting with the ‘Little Elders.’
Time: 10:08 – 10:30 a.m. Location: Small Gym
Kohkom Kathy leads a smudge ceremony, which is open to participants, staff and Braemar teachers – all cultures welcome. Smudging grounds your spirit, mind and body throughout the day. Those participating in the smudge are welcome to bring their children, but must hold or supervise them during the ceremony. Teachings on how to smudge are provided every day.
Time: 12:30 – 3:15 p.m. Location: Counselling Room
Kohkom Kathy provides a new cultural teachings each week from 12:30 – 1 p.m. followed by traditional crafting including beading from 1 – 3:15 p.m.
