In accordance with the City of Edmonton by-law, all visitors to Terra will be required to wear a mask when in the building. This includes all participants, staff and volunteers. Disposable masks will be available for participants. The Clothes Closet will continue to be available by appointment only. Terra continues to serve our families remotely during this time. As of July 20th, our offices will be open by appointment only.   If you are a teen parent requiring support and do not have a worker, please contact 780-428-3772 for support. Other participants are encouraged to continue to connect directly with their worker.

Terra’s Clothes Closet Downtown will be opening on July 28th. The Clothes Closet is available by appointment only from Tuesday – Thursday between 10am – 4pm. If you require an appointment, please contact Lisa at 780-428-3772 ext 236

Terra continues to provide innovative and person-centred care for our families during the COVID-19 pandemic.  While front-line staff continue to support families remotely, Terra has made the decision to close our offices until further notice.

With all Terra staff working remotely, participants are encouraged to contact their workers directly on their cell phones for questions or support. If you require assistance and would like to speak to agency staff, please call 587-338-5658 and a member of the team will direct your call.

Terra continues to provide innovative and person-centred care for our families. Front-line staff are supporting families remotely by phone, email, text and video chat. Phone lines at all four Terra offices remain open; staff are managing the lines on a rotating basis. Calls will be redirected appropriately. Front-line staff can be reached on their cell phones, and Chandra Ashton and Dr. Bina Nair are both available by phone to offer mental health supports.

We have offered participants additional supports, including:

  • Delivering diapers, wipes, formula, etc.
  • Dropping off essentials, such as milk, fruit and vegetables.
  • Providing children’s craft items, such as playdough, paints, etc.
  • Emailing documents or links to services that participants may need to access (tax forms, applications for funding).

We encourage families to stay informed and refer to the Alberta Health Services website and the Government of Alberta’s​ ​website​ for accurate and regularly updated information about COVID-19.

It is so important that we all take the measures that we can to control the spread of this virus and protect ourselves, our children and the greater community.


Update: Monday, March 16, 2020

To protect staff and our families and contain the spread of COVID-19, Terra is following all recommendations from the Government of Alberta and implementing the actions below, effective immediately:

  • Staff at Terra Center downtown will be primarily working remotely. The doors will be locked except for essential business. Skeleton staff will remain onsite. Our downtown phone line will remain open: 780-428-3772.
  • The Child and Family Support Centre (CFSC) is closed. The CFSC phone line will remain open: 780-468-3218 (office) or 780-239-4490 (cell).
  • Staff at the Services for Educational Achievement (SEA) office can be reached at the office line, 780-466-1156 ext.1. Front line staff can be reached via their cell phones.
  • To access staff at Brentwood House or determine services available, please call: 780-474-4966.
  • Groups and classes at all Terra locations are cancelled until further notice.
  • Participants will continue to be served through remote services and further needs will be assessed on an individual basis. Terra participants are encouraged to call any of our phone lines to connect to front line program staff. All calls will be redirected and responded to.

Update: Friday, March 13, 2020

Considering recent COVID-19 developments and recommendations from the Government of Alberta, Terra is taking action to protect the health and well-being of our supporters, volunteers, staff and the families we serve.

As of Friday, March 13, we are taking the following safety measures:

  • Sharing information and reliable sources of health information with staff, volunteers and families, so they can recognize COVID-19 symptoms and know how to seek appropriate health care advice and treatment.
  • Providing extra sanitation and disinfecting products to staff, and ensuring surfaces are cleaned thoroughly and frequently within our offices.
  • Encouraging staff and volunteers to adhere to recommended hygiene practices.
  • Taking measures to protect staff doing home visits, such as asking about and assessing any COVID-19 symptoms prior to a visit.
    • If families are experiencing symptoms and are in need of basic necessities such as diapers, formula or wipes, arranging for drop off outside the home.
    • Conducting home visits by phone instead of in-person, as necessary.
  • Encouraging staff, volunteers and families to stay home if they experience any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Continuing to evaluate the situation and follow recommendations released by the Government of Alberta.
  • Cancelling large gatherings, including our Annual General Meeting on March 25.
